Ivan Albright's Macabre Works Featured on CBS Chicago

On the day before Halloween, Ivan Albright (SAIC 1920–23, HON 1977) was featured on CBS Chicago for his macabre artworks. According to Sarah Kelly Oehler, Field McCormick Chair and Curator of American Art at the Art Institute of Chicago, Albright's works were inspired by his stint in the Army where he worked as a medical draftsman during World War I. “Ivan Albright started his life not wanting to be an artist and ended up as a painter but turned in this direction of the macabre. I would also say he saw his work as deeply philosophical,” Oehler says.
