Three SAIC Alums to Exhibit at New York's New Arts Center, The Shed

The Shed, a new visual and performing arts space in New York City, launches its opening season on April 5. The arts center, designed for 21st-century artists and audiences will present works in the visual and performing arts, and popular culture in its innovative, movable building. Three SAIC alums are slated for exhibits in the first year of the art center's opening, beginning with Maryam Hoseini (SAIC 2014–16) and Analisa Teachworth (BFA 2008), who will present work as part of Open Call. The exhibit will include work from 52 emerging New York-based artists and run from May 30–August 25 throughout The Shed's primary spaces.

Martine Syms (BFA 2007) will present new work as part of the exhibit Manual Override, which runs from November 13 through January 2020, in The Shed's theater space. The exhibit centers on the pioneering filmmaker and artist Lynn Hershman Leeson, whose artistic practice involves collaborations with cutting-edge geneticists, scientists, and engineers.
