Art & Technology Studies 50th anniversary

50 Years of Art and Technology Studies at School of the Art Institute of Chicago

The past several years have witnessed a surge of interest in practices at the intersection of art and technology, a phenomenon well documented by the proliferation of exhibitions and edited volumes being produced on the subject. This broad institutional embrace also casts new light on art and technology practices at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), illuminating the significant contributions made by faculty and alumni throughout fifty years of uninterrupted experimentation, as well as the lack of precedent for such a milestone in the field at large. In order to celebrate its rich history and ongoing contribution to SAIC and the larger art and technology community, the Art and Technology Studies department is organizing several initiatives, including a series of exhibitions, publications, and public programs.

An 80-page publication interweaving personal, historical, and scholarly accounts of the department, faculty, and alumni. To receive a copy of ats@50 please write directly to: ats@saic.
