SAIC Faculty kg Gnatowski Weaves Life in Solo Exhibit

Adjunct Associate Professor in the Fiber and Material Studies department kg Gnatowski's (MFA 2007) solo exhibition, Some Kind of Duty, was recently reviewed in the Chicago Tribune. The exhibit presents 27 tapestries of varying sizes that weave yarn with twigs, brooches, binder clips, straws, and other objects. "kg’s ingenuity is partly in devising somewhere to put it all other than the back of a drawer, somewhere both therapeutically productive and artistically useful," says the Tribune. The work in the exhibit is new, all made in 2018, personal in nature. The exhibit also features a gallery guide of poems and an intimate interview with the artist is included in the catalog. The "strangely touching and innovative textiles" are on view at the DePaul Art Museum through March 31.
