Avis LaVelle was recently appointed as the president of the Chicago Park District board of commissioners. The four others who hold prominent positions are: Terry Peterson as chair of the Chicago Transit Authority, John Hooker as chair of the Chicago Housing Authority, Frank Clark as president of the Chicago Board of Education, and Walter Massey as chair of the Board of the City Colleges of Chicago.
