Soundwalk with Eric Leonardson

Eric Leonardson Leads Soundwalk through Chicago Pedway

The Chicago Reader recently spoke with Eric Leonardson (MFA 1983) the founder of the Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology (MSAE) and adjunct associate professor in the Sound department about soundwalks in the Chicago Pedway. Typically the MSAE organizes soundwalks in parks or nature preserves but the first walk of 2019 will be titled Hear Below: Listening to Chicago Underground. Leonardson believes that the sonic surroundings should be a public concern, "We're trying to raise awareness of the interrelationships of sound and listening and environment," he says. MSAE is a Chicago-based nonprofit that encourages public dialogue on the preservation and restoration of natural and cultural sound environment.
