Artsy Features SAIC Online Course
Artsy has featured an SAIC online course in the article “10 University Art Classes You Can Take for Free Online.” MOOCs (massive open online courses) offer more than 10,000 courses from 800 different universities, that can be taken at the student’s own pace. Artsy highlighted a course offered by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and taught by Lisa Wainwright, “Charting the Avant-Garde: from Romanticism to Utopic Abstraction.” Participants will learn 200 years of avant-garde art “ that shocked the public when it was first seen,” said Wainwright. In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
