Gary Graham's New Designs Featured in Vogue

Fashion designer and SAIC alum Gary Graham (BFA 1992) was recently featured in the runway section of Vogue magazine for his design relaunch featuring one-of-a-kind handmade coats and jackets. These pieces were sourced from vintage textiles and historically inspired materials and each comes with a “labor card” that details who worked on the piece and for how long.

Graham’s work is inspired by historical designs and gothic style. His pieces have been displayed in museum collections and sold in the Dover Street Market and Barneys New York. Graham was also a 2017 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist. Last December he decided to close the doors on his brick and mortar shop in Tribeca and relocate to upstate New York where he was reminded of the ways the fashion industry has changed. “...the glamour of going into the store and paying full retail is really diminishing,” Graham told Vogue. His latest designs focus on the history of each piece and forming a connection with the buyer. Graham’s designs are now available through his website, garygraham422.com—the 422 referring to 422 Main Street, in Franklin, New York, the address of the historic 19th-century former bank and trading post he and his partner, Sean Scherer now own.
