SAIC Alum Featured in Chicago Reader's Makers Issue 2018
Amy Taylor (BA 2010) is a self-proclaimed "underpants extraordinaire." Taylor and her BYOB Friday-night class, Sew Your Own Underwear, at Lillstreet Art Center were called out in Chicago Reader’s “The Makers Issue 2018,” focusing on Chicagoans creating meaning and art in their communities. Those who attend Taylor’s five-week course learn to make their own undergarments by hand. “People who buy [her underwear] are supporting a local female-run business with an environmentally friendly product free of toxic dyes and made to last. They're opting out of the fast-fashion industry, where bargain prices depend on exploited labor in other parts of the world” reports Chicago Reader.
