Shenequa Brooks Awarded National YoungArts Fellowship
Shenequa Brooks (MDes 2017) was chosen as the inaugural National YoungArts Fellow reports the Miami Herald. The artist will receive a $25,000 unrestricted grant from the National YoungArts Foundation and a year-long mentorship with globally acclaimed artist Daniel Arsham. Brooks, who was born in St. Thomas and grew up in Miami, explores her heritage through works including cotton, yarn, and synthetic hair.
In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
