Masseys and Anne Wilson Honored at Hyde Park Art Center Gala
About 500 guests gathered at the Hyde Park Art Center October 14 to celebrate the contributions Walter Massey, Chancellor of SAIC, his wife Shirley Massey, as well as Professor in the Department of Fiber and Material Studies Anne Wilson have made to the Chicago arts community. Deputy Director of the Hyde Park Art Center, Hilesh Patel, said of the Masseys and Wilson: "They are pillars of art and education in Chicago, modeling support and thinking that drives not just us and many other organizations, but also the art community in Chicago.” The event raised $380,000 to help the art center stay free and open to the public. In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
