Alumni Featured in Group Show on Racial Violence
Several SAIC alumni are featured in the Brooklyn Museum's show The Legacy of Lynching: Confronting Racial Terror in America. As part of a partnership with the nonprofit Equal Justice Initiative, the exhibition combines research on the history of violence against Black people and communities with works from the museum's collection. Sanford Biggers (MFA 1999), Elizabeth Catlett (SAIC 1941), Theaster Gates (HON 2014), Rashid Johnson (SAIC 2003–04), and Dread Scott (BFA 1989) are among the artists shown. The Legacy of Lynching will be up until September 3. Read ARTNews' write up of it here.
