Rashid Johnson's New Exhibit Debuts at Milwaukee Art Museum

On June 23, Rashid Johnson (SAIC 2003–04) will open his exhibition Hail We Now Sing Joy at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The exhibition borrows from his much-celebrated show Fly Away, which debuted at Hauser & Wirth in New York in 2016. Known for his large-scale, immersive installations, Johnson combines objects such as house plants, shea butter, glass panes and wax to examine experiences of Black masculinity and performing identity. Hail We Now Sing Joy was announced in the latest issue of Chicago Gallery News. Johnson’s work will be on view from June 23–September 17, 2017.
