Chancellor Walter Massey Discusses Bringing Science to SAIC

An interview with Chancellor Walter Massey was featured in the March issue of LIGO Magazine. While discussing his background as a theoretical physicist and the Director of the National Science Foundation under President George H.W. Bush, Massey also touched on integrating art and science at SAIC. He notes that, while problems and methodologies at an art institution versus a science institution are different, the curiosity and creativity in both communities is quite similar. Dr. Massey has been integral to developing the Scientist-in-Residence program, Conversations in Art and Science, and classes jointly taught by artists and scientists at the School.
