Alum Erik Beehn Reminisces on Growing Up in a Las Vegas Hotel
Erik Beehn (BFA 2005, MFA 2015) was highlighted in the Chicago Tribune recently for his new exhibition, “Housesitting,” currently on display through November 18 at Platform in Evanston, Illinois. Having been raised in a Las Vegas Travelodge owned by his grandparents, Beehn discusses his unique inspirations that inform his practice.
“Now every time I stay in a hotel I look at what’s on the wall,” he told the Chicago Tribune. “I’m looking at things on the periphery of fine art.”
In celebration of alum Georgia O’Keeffe: My New Yorks opening current SAIC students were invited to submit artworks inspired by O’keeffe and the city of Chicago.
