Documentary Inspired by Late SAIC Alum Hilgos to air on Chicago's PBS Station

The late SAIC alum Hilgos (1930s) once said, "I remember better when I paint" when talking about the effects art-making had on her memory as she learned to live with Alzheimer's disease. By painting, Hilgos was able to regain her core identity, enthusiasm, and energy while living with memory loss. A documentary inspired by Hilgos will air on Chicago's public broadcasting station, WTTW, on Thursday, November 6, at 10:00 p.m. and Friday, November 7, at 4:00 p.m. Narrated by screen legend Olivia de Havilland, I Remember Better When I Paint explores how daycare centers, nursing homes, and assisted-living facilities are using creative therapies to treat Alzheimer’s patients.
