SAIC Alum's Current Project Inspired by Visits to the Art Institute

Tinsley Hammond (BFA 2010), is currently displaying her work The Projection Series at Boston's ARCH Gallery. In an interview with the Boston Globe, Hammond spoke about her practice, especially her Lightbulb Moment, which occurred at the Art Institute of Chicago's Modern Wing during her undergraduate studies at SAIC. "As students we have full access to the museum that’s joined with our school, and my favorite area was the contemporary wing that had just been built, so I got to view Gerhard Richter’s large-scale paintings in person,” Hammond said. “His ability to alternate between figuration and alteration has greatly influenced my work.”
