Celebrated Alumni Featured on Crain’s List of Native Chicago Designers

Crain’s Chicago Business features two prominent SAIC alumni on its list of native Chicago fashion designers: late alum Roy Halston Frowick (1932–90) and Cynthia Rowley (BFA 1981). Halston started his career as a milliner and leapt to fame when he designed Jacqueline Kennedy’s pillbox hat, and Rowley, who won a Council of Fashion Designers of America award for new talent early in her career, now has 60 boutiques nationwide.
