Sonya Clark Featured in Artnet News

SAIC alum Sonya Clark (BFA 1993) began unraveling a Confederate flag on June 11 with help from about 50 people at the opening of New Dominion at Mixed Greens Gallery in New York. This work, Unraveling, along with Unraveled—three piles of red, white, and blue thread from a previously deconstructed flag—are featured on Artnet News in light of the June 19 shooting in South Carolina. “They worked together for a little over an hour; that labor removed only about an inch of the flag, in a parallel to the seemingly unending fight for racial equality,” the story states.
