SAIC Alumni Collaborate on Skateboarding-Inspired Installation
SAIC alumni Jonas Sebura (MFA 2011) and Alex Gartelmann (MFA 2012) have been collaborating since 2009. Their most recent work is an installation currently on view at Clough-Hanson Gallery at Rhode College. The show is part of a series of exhibitions called This Must Be the Place, exploring the connection between place and art. Sebura and Gartelmann’s Church is an ode to skate culture; part half pipe, part chapel. A review in The Commercial Appeal notes, “the wild exuberance of the entire enterprise fills the gallery with undeniable energy, while at the same time conveying a feeling of awesome dignity and solid inevitability.”
