VICE Sports Interviews SAIC Faculty Michelle Grabner
VICE Sports interviewed SAIC’s faculty member Michelle Grabner (Painting and Drawing), an esteemed artist who was one of three curators for 2014 Whitney Biennial, to discuss the New York Times art critic Kevin Johnson’s critical review of her recent work, which alluded to her identity as a “soccer mom.” VICE Sports says, “Grabner's use of repetition in her practice to explore domesticity is at least partially informed by her hours spent training for her various sports. She also sees parallels between the repeated tasks of suburban home life and the practice required of athletes.”
