SAIC to Offer Financial Support for Admitted “Chicago Star” Students

The Chicago Tribune reports that SAIC, along with the University of Chicago, Columbia College Chicago, Northeastern Illinois University, and North Park University, has joined an initiative to offer financial support to “Chicago Star” students. These are students who graduated from Chicago Public Schools and earn associate degrees from one of the seven City Colleges. In pursuit of a bachelor’s degree, “Chicago Star” students will be offered varying amounts of aid, depending on the institution to which they are admitted. According to Mayor Rahm Emmanuel’s office, SAIC will offer "between $12,000 and $18,000 a year based on a student's portfolio, for up to 100 students."
