School of the Art Institute of Chicago Receives a Grant from the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago has received a Technical Assistance Grant from the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation. As a part of the Frankenthaler Climate Initiative, the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation awarded 69 grants of a grand total of $3.3 million. The initiative was founded in 2021 and grants aid to US organizations for the betterment of their facilities as well as making them energy efficient and environmentally sustainable.

The grant was awarded to the school to conduct a study to evaluate the feasibility of implementing renewable clean heating and cooling technology in the Lakeview and MacLean buildings. The geothermal heating system is the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly HVAC and water-heating system available.
