Alums Lola Dement Myers (BFA 2020) and Olive Woodward (BFA 2019) and their fellow collaborator Shay Gallagher recently discussed the debut of their first runway show under their fashion label Lucky Jewel in an interview by Dazed magazine. The show features a variety of garments that offer an alternate, provocative take on business clothing by using mesh skirts, low-rise bottoms, and more to revitalize classic silhouettes. In addition, the three designers reflect on their brand’s beginnings as an art collective in Chicago and look toward the future as they adjust to becoming a “real business.”

“There are some lousy secretary vibes inspired by our recent experience of becoming a ‘real’ business,” the co-designers told Dazed, speaking about their runway collection. “We wanted to explore the identity of Lucky Jewel [...] and further explore Lucky Jewel as our creative collaborative outlet.”
