LGBTQ+ Intergenerational Dialogue Project

Professor Karen Morris Featured in Chicago Reader’s Pride Issue

For the Chicago Reader’s June Pride issue, Associate Professor Karen Morris wrote an article on the importance of intergenerational community. In her article, “Intergenerational Connection is Radical,” she highlights several initiatives aiming to bring LGBTQ+ elders and youth together within Chicago including the Gerber/Hart Library and Archives, the Center on Halsted, and a project in which she founded, the LGBTQ+ Intergenerational Dialogue Project.

She goes on to state, “First, we must recognize that coalition across queer generations is radical and worth fighting for. Our elders are untapped resources for youth-focused activism, education, and mentorship. They bring personal experiences with LGBTQ+ histories, movements, struggles, and cultures that span 80 years of tremendous change.”
