Mitchell Visiting Professor: Ekene Ijeoma

Ekene Ijeoma is an interdisciplinary artist and designer exploring the intersections of social issues, data studies, and life experiences through websites, apps, installations, and performances. He’s been featured on the cover of GDUSA's People to Watch "who embody the spirit of the creative community," named Adweek's Creative 100 "visual artist whose imagination and intellect will inspire you," and also GOOD's GOOD 100 "tackling pressing global issues."

He’s a Kennedy Center Citizen Artists Fellow, NYFA Architecture/Environmental Structures/Design Fellow, and New Lab/Simons Foundation Fellow. He’s also been awarded residencies from California College of the Arts, New Museum, and Fabrica.

Ekene's work has been exhibited at galleries and museums including Annenberg Space for Photography, Neuberger Museum of Art, Storefront for Art and Architecture, Istanbul Design Biennial, and Design Museum. He’s presented at events and spaces including Design Indaba, Neuberger Museum of Art, Raleigh Contemporary Art Museum, New Museum Ideas City, Chicago Architecture Biennial, and International Center for Photography. Ekene has a BS in Information Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology and an MA in Interaction Design from Domus Academy. A first generation Nigerian-American, he was born in Fort Worth, Texas and lives and works in NYC.
