Alum Michael Murphy Shows Work in Dr. Seuss Exhibit
Alum and former faculty member Michael Murphy (MFA 2004) is debuting work in The Dr. Seuss Experience, a traveling interactive exhibit based on the imaginary worlds created by children’s author Dr. Seuss. Murphy’s work is a perception piece, featuring 85 laser-cut acrylic Dr. Seuss–themed items that hang from the ceiling. “I grew up reading his books and went back to them when I got this job,” Murphy shared. “I realized he’s saying the same thing that I’m saying now—things about creativity and thinking about the world differently—and it really makes me wonder how much of an impression he had on me subconsciously.” The exhibit will be on display until January 2 at Water Tower Place.
