SAIC Historic Preservation students Melanie Bishop, Joyce Ramos and Meredith Stewart were awarded third prize in the distinguished HALS Challenge 2016.   The competition included 43 entries from across the United States.

The SAIC team was sponsored by faculty member Charlie Pipal, with aid from teaching assistant Emily Barton.  The National Park Service annual award is given to the best documentation of a noteworthy work of American landscape architecture.
The students documented the Lincoln Park Lily Pool, a masterwork of Prairie School design by landscape architect Alfred Caldwell.  The drawings and site history will now be included and housed in the Library of Congress collection of the Historic American Landscape Survey.
