Giovanni Aloi’s Curated Sound Installations Highlighted by WBEZ

Associate Professor, Adj. Giovanni Aloi’s curated installation debuted at the Pritzker Pavilion and Lawn this summer—and is highlighted by WBEZ in a new article. The installation, Urban+Nature Sonic Pavilion, features 14 compositions from both Chicago-based and international artists. This soundscape is a collaboration between Chicago-based Experimental Sound Studio and UK-based Antennae Project.

Speaking on the project with WBEZ, Aloi states, “Our urban environment is filled with artificial sounds, yet there is a natural soundtrack that we tend not to acknowledge or maybe not recognize. We wanted to draw awareness to those two soundtracks which, when overlay each other, can bring you closer to the natural world which you may think does not exist within the urban one.”
