Chicago Reader Spotlights Performance Department's Spring Festival
The Chicago Reader spotlighted the Department of Performance's spring festival Old Ways New Tools. The three-day festival showcases live performances over Zoom, often with students collaborating from opposite sides of the world. In countless ways, these performances speak to the reality of our current moment. "It strikes me that we can't go into the white-walled spaces: we can't be in the museum, the gallery, the theater, so the artificial perfect environment has completely collapsed, and we're left with where we are," shared Corey Smith (MFA 2021). "There are some real important political lessons in that: the local is all you have. You have the community around you."
