The Center for Teaching and Learning Announces Fall 2024 Teach and Tell Schedule
The CTL will continue its Teach and Tell series with several exciting workshops and presentations. Please let us know that you will attend by visiting our CTL Teach and Tell RSVP page.
Our first presentation features members of the CTL's 2023-2024 Learning Lab. The Learning Lab is a multidisciplinary collaborative composed of SAIC faculty. Participants facilitated conversations and completed a research-based project. Inspired by bell hooks’ Teaching to Transgress, the CTL collaborated with its faculty-led steering committee to select “ecstatic pedagogy” as this year’s theme. The topic centers teaching and learning as joyful activities that may inspire new modes of understanding and describing student and faculty success. Presentations will provide faculty with an opportunity to learn about each Learning Lab member's project.
Members of the 2023–2024 Learning Lab include: Kayla Anderson (Contemporary Practices), Charles Corwin (Liberal Arts), Benjamin Melamed (Contemporary Practices), Allie n Steve Mullen (Art and Technology/Sound Practices), Isra Rene (Contemporary Practices), and Allison Yasukawa.
We then proceed with our faculty led workshops. Raghav Rao (Liberal Arts) will lead us through "Mess Making and Fragmentary Writing" and Professor Adelheid Mers will present on her project, "The Braid." Both workshops will provide participants with an interactive learning opportunity.
Finally, recipients of our spring/summer Pedagogy Start-Up grants will present their work. Gary McDowell (Liberal Arts) will discuss his lesson on teaching with AI. Terri Griffith and Jerry Bleem will lead us through “Cyber-Feminism” and “Contextualizing Textiles: The Big Picture” respectively. These two new and exciting courses will surely interest you and students alike.
