School of the Art Institute of Chicago alum Meg Onli (BA 2008) was named the new curator at large at the Whitney Museum. According to Artforum, this historic announcement marks the first time in 15 years that someone will hold this position, marking a new milestone in Onli's stellar career.

As a curator at large, Onli will curate exhibitions, propose acquisitions, and consult on special projects, focusing on co-curating the retrospective exhibition of Roy Lichtenstein in 2026. Drawing from her extensive curatorial experience at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles Underground Museum, Onli aims to infuse the museum with fresh perspectives while amplifying the voices of emerging and underrepresented artists.

In the past, Onli curated groundbreaking solo exhibitions of Jessica Vaughn and Ulysses Jenkins, positioning herself as one of the most progressive contemporary curators. Her visionary work won numerous awards for its non-conformity and a strong social emphasis, making her an inaugural recipient of the Figure Skating Prize established by Virgil Abloh’s art space.
