Alum Jennifer Teresa Villanueva's Photographs Featured in Chicago Magazine

School of the Art Institute of Chicago alum Jennifer Teresa Villanueva (BFA 2020) was recently featured in Chicago Magazine for her photography documenting the Mexican American experience. Villanueva’s work began as a personal project capturing her family’s daily life, evolving into a broader exploration of immigrant identity and cultural memory. Her images, taken over several years, highlight intimate moments—her grandmother making tamales, her father fixing the bathroom sink, and her brother studying while playing video games—revealing the resilience and sacrifices of her family. Through photography, she aims to preserve these narratives and offer greater representation of Mexican American families in the US.
