School of the Art Institute of Chicago Dean of Graduate Studies Arnold J. Kemp recently spoke to ARTnews about Less Like an Object and More Like the Weather, his exhibition at Neubauer Collegium for Culture and Society at the University of Chicago. In his practice, Kemp collects and presents objects that comment on identity, stereotypes, masks, and disguises—including a rubber Fred Flintstone mask that has featured prominently in his work over the years. “We are always moving in and out of masks. People call it code-switching,” Kemp told ARTnews.
