US Pavilion Is a Must-See at Venice Architecture Biennale

The US Pavilion's exhibition Dimensions of Citizenship was featured in a Domus article about noteworthy pavilions at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2018, which opens on May 26. The article, titled "Biennale: 5 pavilions not to be missed" also included pavilions from the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, and China on its list. The theme for the Biennale this year is Freespace and SAIC Assistant Professor Ann Lui is one of the three curators of Dimensions of Citizenship. The article observed how it is “not by chance that the proposal of the Trump era’s first US Pavilion focuses on Dimensions of Citizenship." The article deems the pavilion’s curators, Lui, Mimi Zeiger, and Niall Atkinson “a team of the highest calibre.” It goes on to elaborate how the proposal has chosen to “reflect on a range of topics substantially exceeding the narrowest field of the discipline” and the “very role of architecture is put into question.”
