Where to Eat
Where to Eat
Chicago is known for its wide array of diverse and exceptional dining. From steak to vegetarian fare, hot dog stands to five-star restaurants, and pizza to pad thai, there is something in Chicago for everyone. There are literally hundreds of restaurants just a short walk or cab ride away from SAIC.
Looking for something on campus? Below are on-campus dining options available to you when visiting SAIC.
On-Campus Dining Update
Every few years, SAIC reassesses its campus dining and completes a thorough review process in order to ensure we have a comprehensive meal plan that best serves our community. After a months-long search process, we are excited to announce that we have selected HandCut Foods to provide dining services across campus. Please note, there will be no change to the cost of SAIC’s meal plan, café hours, or account access.
HandCut’s commitment to sustainability, excellent service, and locally-sourced items made them the clear choice for SAIC. The selection process involved a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students as well as a visit to dining halls at Loyola University and Northwestern University—colleges that are HandCut clients. HandCut is a local Chicago company under the Compass group, which serves many other colleges, including Loyola, Northwestern, and the University of Chicago.
HandCut will begin serving our community on June 17. Campus cafés will be closed until then for upgrades and improvements.
